The Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC) was formally established as a bank at the end of 2006. The bank, formerly known as the Postal Savings service of China Post, is now a separate legal entity owned by China Post Group.
With more than 36,000 outlets, a large part of which is located in rural areas, PSBC has the largest branch network in China and offers savings services to around 250 million clients. As a formal bank, PSBC may now also engage in credit business and is seeking to introduce micro-credit products to selected pilot branches.
